Aerovolt SmartFlow™ Artificial Intelligence

Aerovolt SmartFlow™ – Intelligent Energy Management

Aerovolt SmartFlow™ is our proprietary energy management software that intelligently controls every function of your Smart Solar System. It analyzes historical data, real-time inputs, and future projections—including grid availability, tariff rates, solar irradiance, local energy consumption, and battery storage levels—to create and execute an optimized Power Management Plan.

Designed with two core goals in mind—maximum energy availability and minimum cost—SmartFlow extracts multiple economic value streams from your local energy environment to ensure reliable, low-cost power. Delivered via the cloud, this intelligent system continuously computes and updates the most efficient energy plan. By always prioritizing the lowest-cost energy source, Aerovolt SmartFlow™ maximizes your savings from solar and battery storage.

Power Management Plan (PMP)

Aerovolt SmartFlow™ constantly generates and updates a dynamic Power Management Plan (PMP) tailored to your home or business. It uses a combination of historical trends, real-time data, and future predictions—including solar generation, grid availability, energy storage levels, and consumption patterns. This intelligent plan is executed through smart battery charging and discharging, along with strategic use of grid tariff options like net metering and time-of-use rates, to ensure optimal efficiency and savings.

SmartFlow Value Streams

A SmartFlow value stream represents an economic benefit gained through complete awareness of your energy environment. Aerovolt SmartFlow™ unlocks this value by analyzing current energy conditions and calculating a sequence of optimal actions—forming a Power Management Plan (PMP)—tailored for maximum efficiency. This plan is then executed automatically through intelligent software control. The result: reduced energy bills without compromising on energy availability when you need it most.

Solar Production vs. Load Consumption

This overlapping graph illustrates a typical household’s energy consumption throughout the day alongside solar energy production during daylight hours. As shown, there is minimal overlap between peak energy usage and peak solar generation—meaning much of the solar energy (highlighted in yellow) can go unused without proper management. Aerovolt SmartFlow™ addresses this challenge by unlocking multiple value streams, intelligently shifting energy usage, and ensuring that more of your solar energy is efficiently used. This not only reduces waste but also lowers your reliance on grid electricity.

Basic Solar Exporting

To avoid wasting excess solar energy, Aerovolt SmartFlow™ automatically exports unused solar power to the grid—provided the grid is available and supports net-metering. The system continuously monitors and records all units of energy exported and imported, giving you a clear and up-to-date view of how your solar energy is utilized and your actual net energy bill.

Intelligent Exporting During Aggressive Grid Outages

During frequent or extended load shedding, excess solar energy often goes to waste. Aerovolt SmartFlow™ tackles this by intelligently managing the battery—discharging stored energy to the grid when it’s available and charging the battery with surplus solar power when the grid is down. This ensures efficient energy use even in challenging grid conditions, minimizing waste and maximizing value.

Increase in Solar Energy Self-Consumption

With Aerovolt SmartFlow™, you can store excess solar energy in your battery during the day and discharge it later in the evening, effectively reducing your reliance on expensive peak tariff grid energy. By intelligently storing solar power throughout the day and using it during the evening, you maximize your use of locally produced solar energy—even after the sun has set.

Time of Use (TOU) Energy Arbitrage

When solar energy production is low, Aerovolt SmartFlow™ intelligently charges your battery from the grid during low-tariff hours and discharges it during peak tariff periods to help reduce your electricity costs. Since most residential energy consumption happens during high-rate periods, this strategy can lead to significant savings over time. Even on cloudy days with minimal solar generation, SmartFlow™ continues to provide savings by leveraging grid-based TOU energy arbitrage—ensuring economic benefits as long as a TOU tariff structure is in place.
